Located just north of the Missouri and Arkansas state borders is a small city known as Hornersville. According to the United States Census Bureau, there were about 730 people living in Hornersville in 2016. Hornersville is one of the smallest cities located in Dunklin County, Missouri.
Hornersville was founded in 1840 and platted in 1842. William H. Horner founded Hornersville and the city is named in honor of him. Before the city was platted, William H. Horner had been settled in the area since 1832. About 30 years after its founding, a post office was opened in Hornersville and an office has been in operation since.
Modern-day Hornersville is home to many facilities and amenities that make life in the city very pleasant for residents. As aforementioned, Hornersville is home a United States Postal Service Office. Also located in the city are the Hornersville City Park, Hornersville United Methodist Church, Senath-Hornersville Middle School, and the Hornersville Public Library.
